Did You Read a Great Book this Summer?

Join us for a celebration of International Literacy Day on September 11, where you can share a favorite passage from a great book you have read!

  • Sign up for a 2-3 minute spot to read your favorite passage.
  • Invite your friends and family.
  • Get to know your community.
  • Learn about our library literacy program.
  • Everyone is welcome to read.

The event will be held on Monday, September 11 at 6pm in Fukaya Room A at the Fremont Main Library, a branch of the Alameda County Library. The library is wheelchair accessible. UNESCO established September 8 as International Literacy Day to promote literacy worldwide. It is estimated that 875 million of the world’s adults do not know how to read or write—nearly two-thirds are women, and that more than 110 million children lack access to education.
