A Bookmobile Program for Children in Preschool
The Hot Wheels program provides licensed Childcare Providers of
preschoolers with an excellent library experience at their site.
Bookmobile or a professional staff member visits to assist in
meeting educational and reading needs with a wide variety of
quality books, music, videos, CD-ROM software and storytelling kits.
These visits encourage childcare providers to make the library a
regular part of their school and life and increase awareness of
the importance of reading to preschoolers.
The program requires a minimum of 10 children and a maximum of 25 children between the ages of 2˝ and 5 per storytime.
Each group of preschoolers has a full library experience. Books are returned
from the previous visit, a storytime is offered, and books are checked
out for the following four weeks.
How can I get my preschool on the schedule?
The Hot Wheels service area includes Castro Valley, Dublin,
Fremont, Newark, San Lorenzo, Union City and unincorporated
Alameda County.
Licensed childcare providers in this service area are encouraged
to contact Hot Wheels in May at 510-745-1478. New stops are
added for the summer months and an effort is made to rotate
about 10% of the schedule each year.
