We are happy to welcome your child as a library user and hope
that your entire family will take time to visit the library.
The Children's Section of the library contains materials for children
from toddlers to junior high school ages. Materials include books, magazines,
CDs, videos, software, and books on CD. Children's Services
staff assist children and parents in locating recreational reading or
materials for school assignments. Each summer the library hosts a summer
reading game.
PreSchool Storytime
The purpose of preschool storytime is to introduce the 3-5 year old to
good books and to the public library. It also gives children the opportunity
to listen to stories in a group and feel at home in the library atmosphere.
Castro Valley offers three sessions of storytime during the year: Fall,
Winter, and Spring. Registration is required and the library limits the
number of children accepted to ensure an enjoyable experience for all
listeners. Please phone the library for a current schedule, 510-667-7900.
Special Events
The library is able to sponsor wonderful special events with funds provided
by the Friends of the Castro Valley Library. Storytelling, music and magic
are some of the many possibilities. Watch your local newspaper, or phone
the library for the latest information.
