The Library will be closed July 4, 2017, in celebration of Independence Day.

Thursday, June 22nd, beginning at 9:00 p.m., we will be upgrading our catalog system. The catalogs (Encore/Classic), My Accounts and some electronic resources (databases) will be unavailable for 4-6 hours.

Get Ready to Read for the Win!

 

Alameda County Library is hosting its annual Summer Reading Game from June 13 to August 13. The game is open to all ages 0 – 100 +. With games for Pre-readers, Kids, Teens, and Adults – it’s a perfect family activity! The all‐ages game is fun, free, and easy to play. Players earn points and prizes by reading and completing various activities. The more you read, the more chances you can win.


Tech It Out Turns 1

Tech It Out, a kiosk that deploys iPads and Laptops at the Alameda County Library, just turned 1. Tech It Out is an innovative library program that reflects how libraries transform to adapt to the growing and changing world of technology and the needs of our communities.


Book Fair Features 30 Local Writers

Thirty writers will showcase their books at the Castro Valley Library’s Book Fair. This event will feature writers of fiction and nonfiction books in a wide variety of genres and topics. The ever-expanding ways for writers to get their work published in print and online means more people can put their stories out into the world. With this event the Castro Valley Library has become part of the pipeline from local authors to their readers.
