Brief introduction to anime and manga, including a well-written overview, a discussion of violence, nudity, and sexual content, a list of recommended titles, and a bibliography of books and periodicals. Parent's Guide to Anime
The animecafe provides this resource, a description of the Japanese animation and comic book styles known as amime and manga, along with capsule reviews of many television shows and movies, including Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Akira. Each title is rated G (for all audiences), PG (parent's judgment call), or M (for mature audiences). The reviews are written by various contributors (a brief bio is provided for each). Also features a selective list of links.

Shoujo Manga
Japanese comics by women and girls for women and girls ("shôjo manga") are quite different from those by and for a male audience. Matt Thorn, an American cultural anthropologist and translator living in Japan, explains these comics in several articles (some only in Japanese). Includes a description of the medium, a history of manga, lists of classic and recommended comics, bibliographies, and links to other sites.
