Changes to Library Holds Policy

Our catalog, online resources, and library accounts may be unavailable on Friday, September 28th, between 2 a.m. - 6 a.m. while we work on a catalog upgrade.

We’re pleased to announce changes to our holds policy that will allow patrons to get high-demand items as quickly as possible. 

The following changes effective Monday, October 16, 2017, will reduce patrons’ wait times for requested items.

The active holds limit for physical items (Books, DVDs, CDs, etc.) will be increased from 10 to 15, allowing patrons to have five more active item requests at any one time.

The hold pickup time will be reduced from 10 days to 7 days, meaning that:

  • The hold ‘pick up by’ date will never fall on a day that the pickup location is closed (County holidays excepted).
  • Held items that are never picked up by their requestor will now move to the next patron in line three days sooner.
